Protect Your Pride and Joy
Drive your classic with confidence – protection that honors the past.

Your classic car isn’t just transportation – it’s a piece of history, a work of art, and probably years of hard work and passion. At Pay Low Insurance, we help classic car owners in El Cajon find specialized coverage that actually understands the value of what you’ve got.
Regular auto insurance doesn’t cut it for classics. You need coverage that recognizes your car appreciates in value instead of depreciating. We work with carriers who specialize in collector cars and can get you agreed value coverage at reasonable rates.
Why Choose Us for Classic Car Insurance?
We Understand Classic Cars
We get it – your ’67 Mustang or ’72 Chevelle isn’t just another car. It’s special and deserves insurance that treats it that way.
Agreed Value Coverage
Your car is worth what it’s worth, not what some depreciation table says. With agreed value coverage, you and the insurance company agree upfront on the value. If something happens, that’s what you get – no arguments.
Better Rates Than Regular Insurance
Classic car insurance is usually cheaper than regular auto insurance because you’re not driving it every day. Most of our classic car clients pay way less than they expected.
We Shop Multiple Carriers
We work with insurance companies that specialize in collector vehicles. We’ll find you the best coverage at the best price.
What Qualifies as a Classic Car?
Generally, classic car insurance is for:
Age – Usually 25+ years old (some companies say 20+)
Condition – Well-maintained, restored, or original condition
Usage – Not your daily driver
Storage – Kept in a garage or secure storage
Value – Worth more than standard book value or appreciating
Even if your car doesn’t fit all these, give us a call. Some companies have different rules and we might still be able to help you out.

What’s Covered?
Agreed Value Coverage
This is the big one. You and the insurance company agree on your car’s value based on appraisals, receipts, photos, whatever proves what it’s worth. If it’s totaled, you get that amount – no depreciation BS.
Way better than actual cash value which just looks at book value and doesn’t account for your restoration work or the crazy market for classics.
Spare Parts Coverage
Got a garage full of spare parts? Extra engine? NOS parts you’ve been collecting? Those can be covered too.
Inflation Guard
Your car’s value goes up over time (hopefully). This automatically increases your coverage value each year so you don’t have to keep updating it.
Roadside Assistance
Specifically designed for classics – flatbed towing (not some hook that could damage your car), help at shows, fuel delivery, whatever you need.
Liability Coverage
Standard liability if you’re at fault in an accident. Same as regular car insurance.
Medical Payments
Covers medical bills after an accident.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist
Protects you if someone without adequate insurance hits your classic.
Coverage at Shows and Events
Covered while you’re at car shows, cruise nights, and other events. Some policies even cover you while on the show field.
Diminished Value
If your car is damaged and repaired, it might be worth less even after proper repairs. This covers that loss in value.
Usage Options
Pleasure Use
Cruises, car shows, occasional drives. Most classic car policies allow 3000-5000 miles per year.
Limited Mileage
Lower mileage limits (like 1000-2500 miles/year) usually mean lower premiums.
Unlimited Mileage
Some companies offer this if you want to drive more. Costs a bit more but gives you freedom.
Show and Display
Mainly for shows with very limited street use.
Daily Driver Coverage
If you actually drive your classic regularly, you need a different type of policy. We can do that too but it’ll cost more.
Common Questions
How much does classic car insurance cost?
Way less than you’d think. Most classic car policies run $200-800/year depending on the car’s value and how you use it. A $50,000 classic might only cost $400-500/year to insure. Compare that to regular car insurance.
What’s the difference between classic car insurance and regular insurance?
Regular insurance uses actual cash value (depreciates). Classic car insurance uses agreed value (protects your investment). Plus classic car insurance is usually cheaper because you drive it less.
How do they determine agreed value?
Photos, appraisals, receipts for parts and work, sales data for similar cars, condition reports. Basically proof of what your car is actually worth.
Can I drive it whenever I want?
Most policies have mileage limits (3000-5000 miles/year) and require you have another car for daily use. If you want to drive it more, let us know and we’ll find a policy that allows it.
Do I need an appraisal?
Depends on the value. Cars under $50k usually don’t need one. Higher value cars usually do. We’ll tell you what’s needed.
What if I’m still restoring it?
Some companies offer coverage during restoration. Let us know where you’re at and we’ll find something that works.
Does it cover custom parts and upgrades?
Yes, as long as you document them and include them in your agreed value. Keep receipts for everything.
Requirements
Most classic car insurance requires:
Enclosed Storage – Garage, carport, or secure storage facility
Another Vehicle – You need a daily driver (regular car)
Clean Driving Record – Usually need a decent record
Age – Some companies require you be 25+ (some allow younger)
Limited Use – Not for daily commuting or business use
Don’t meet all these? Talk to us anyway. Every company’s different and we might find something that works.
Ways to Save Money
Low mileage – Drive it less, pay less
Multiple classics – Insure more than one collector car together
Bundle policies – Add to your regular auto or home insurance
Car club membership – Some clubs offer insurance discounts
Security devices – Alarms, tracking systems, kill switches
Enclosed storage – Garage is better than carport
Good driving record – Clean record means better rates
Experienced driver – Been driving classics for years? That helps
