Protect Your Home on Wheels

Hit the road with confidence – your RV deserves protection built for adventure.

Whether you’re weekend camping in the mountains or full-timing across the country, your RV is a big investment. At Pay Low Insurance, we help RV owners in El Cajon find coverage that protects their rig without draining their travel fund.

We work with over 25 insurance carriers to find you the best deal on RV insurance. Our clients save an average of 37% compared to shopping with just one company. That’s more money for gas and campground fees.

What’s Covered?

Liability Coverage

If you cause an accident, this covers the other person’s injuries and property damage. Required by law in California if your RV has a motor.

Minimum is 15/30/5 but we recommend getting more, especially with a big rig.

Collision Coverage

Pays to fix your RV after a crash, whether it’s your fault or not.

If you’re still making payments, your lender requires this. Even if it’s paid off, collision coverage makes sense for anything worth more than a few grand.

Comprehensive Coverage

Covers everything else – theft, vandalism, fire, hail, hitting an animal, tree falling on it, whatever.

RVs sit around a lot when you’re not using them, so comprehensive is pretty important. Plus weather damage happens.

Personal Belongings

All your stuff inside the RV – clothes, food, camping gear, electronics. If it gets stolen or damaged, you’re covered.

Standard policies usually have limits though. If you’ve got expensive stuff, we can increase those limits.

Attached Accessories

Awnings, satellite dishes, bike racks, solar panels – all that stuff that’s attached to your RV.

Make sure you tell us about any upgrades you’ve added.

Emergency Expense Coverage

If your RV breaks down far from home, this covers hotel, meals, and getting back home or to your destination.

Super helpful when you’re 500 miles away and your engine dies.

Vacation Liability

Extra liability protection when your RV is parked and you’re using it as a temporary residence.

Good to have if you’re staying somewhere for a while.

Total Loss Replacement

If your RV is totaled within the first few years, this pays for a brand new one instead of just the depreciated value.

Only available on newer RVs but totally worth it if you qualify.

Full-Timer Coverage

Using your RV as your primary home? You need special full-timer coverage that works more like homeowners insurance.

Covers you more like a house than a vehicle.

How Much Coverage Do You Need?

It depends on your situation:

Weekend Warrior? You might be fine with basic coverage plus comprehensive for when it’s sitting in storage.

Frequent Traveler? You’ll want full coverage including emergency expenses and good personal property limits.

Full-Timer? You need full-timer coverage with all the bells and whistles since it’s your actual home.

Expensive Rig? Make sure your limits are high enough to actually replace it if something happens.

We’ll help you figure out what makes sense for how you use your RV and what it’s worth.

Common Questions

How much does RV insurance cost?

Depends on what you’ve got. Small travel trailers might be $200-400/year. Big Class A motorhomes could be $1000-3000/year or more. Your driving record, where you store it, how much you use it – all that affects the price. Call us for a real quote.

Do I need insurance if my RV just sits in storage most of the year?

If it’s a motorhome, yes – California requires liability coverage even if you’re not driving it. For towable trailers, you might want at least comprehensive coverage in case something happens while it’s stored.

Does my auto insurance cover my RV?

Nope, you need separate RV insurance. Your car insurance won’t cover it.

What about my tow vehicle?

Your truck or SUV that tows your trailer needs its own auto insurance. That’s separate from the RV insurance.

Can I pause coverage when I’m not using it?

Some companies let you adjust coverage for the off-season. Ask us about seasonal options to save money.

What if I rent out my RV?

Standard policies don’t cover commercial use. If you’re renting it out on Outdoorsy or RVshare, you need special coverage. Let us know and we’ll set you up.

Ways to Save Money

Bundle policies – Add your RV to your auto and home insurance for discounts

Storage discount – Keep it in a secure facility? That helps

Safety features – Anti-theft devices, tracking systems, good locks

Pay annually – Pay the whole year upfront instead of monthly

Good driving record – Clean record = lower rates

RV club membership – Some clubs offer insurance discounts

Original owner – First owner sometimes gets better rates
